Hi, I’m Molly!
I’m fascinated by marketing, obsessed with teaching, and committed to helping you build a life and a career that you love.
I’m fascinated by marketing, obsessed with teaching, and committed to helping you build a life and a career that you love.
Talk about a huge understatement!
In 2012, I left my bartending job in Kentucky to become an intern at DigitalMarketer. If you told me back then that in just 4 years I would be Vice President, I would have laughed out loud. And if you told me that two years later, in 2017, I would walk away from DigitalMarketer and quit my dream job… well, I probably would have cried.
The last 8 years have been an absolute rollercoaster ride, and I’ve learned a lot along the way.
As a former competitive soccer player, I use to believe that the secret to success was hard work. So when I got started in Digital I worked really, really hard. 16-hour days were the norm, and I once worked for 3 days straight. And it paid off…
After years of hustling and grinding to excel at my career, all that hard work caused me to burn out. My relationships were suffering, my hobbies were non-existent, and I was on the verge of physical and emotional collapse. (This is more common than people think!)
But what felt like the end of the road was really just the beginning of the next step in my journey.
The first is that if you want success and longevity in any career — and especially in Digital — then you need work-life balance. I started focusing on my diet, spending time with friends and, believe it or not, doing things other than work! It felt really, really good.
I realized that while hard work is important (especially in the beginning of your career), my value is not measured by how many hours I work but by what I produce. And by not over-exerting myself I could produce my best work day in, day out without running out of gas.
The second thing I learned was that I wanted to fill my work with purpose and meaning.
Even as VP of an awesome company, I was spending 75% of my time doing stuff I didn’t love. So after 5 years with the DigitalMarketer family (and some serious soul searching)… I left. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.
But I had renewed energy and a newfound clarity in what I wanted. I realized that while marketing is my craft, and I love it, teaching is my passion. I wanted to help people grow and succeed, and inspire them to do good in the world.
Are you ready to take the next step in your digital marketing journey?
